I BIOGRAPHY

Michel (Shamil) Orloff is a founding partner of Present Perfect Capital. An experienced private-equity specialist, he served with Credit Suisse as a credit officer, then as Executive Director at INVESCO in charge of its CIS desk, and as Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, heading its Eastern European operations. He has acquired and turned around more than 26 companies from investment to successful exit – in some cases through consolidation strategies – many of them sold to large international companies or listed through IPOs. Guiding companies through the shift from centrally planned to market economies demanded profound change
across their entire structures

These turnarounds gave him significant experience in transferring and implementing new technologies, quality control mechanisms, management information systems (MIS) and high corporate-governance standards for all stakeholders.

He is also the founder of Black Earth Farming Ltd, an agricultural company that consolidated 330,000 hectares  (about one million feddans) of farmland and, when listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 2007, was the third-largest cropping operation in the world. His experience in fertilisers, seed selection and food processing makes him an expert across the food value chain, and ESG standards are among his core principles for creating value through sustainability.

Most recently, he co-founded the Egypt branch of the non-profit Miami Chamber of Commerce, to foster partnerships between the Chamber’s global platform and the Egyptian business community
